President’s Quilt Challenge – “ Time Warp” ………. From traditional to modern.
Due: Holiday Party, December 18th.
Size: Your choice
Color: Your choice
Step One: Select a traditional block. Incorporate into a quilt, either 1/3 or 2/3 of the traditional block design. Your choice whether you prefer traditional or modern.
Examples: Some suggested traditional blocks. (It is amazing how old some of them are).
Log Cabin 1869, Nine Patch 1808, Dresden Plate 1920, Lone Star 1830, Wedding Ring 1920, Mariners Compass 1726, Bow Tie 1898, Fans 1885, Pieced Trees 1875, Ocean Waves 1875, Irish Chain 1814, Feathered Star 1830, Ocean Shores 1844, Grandmother’s Flower Garden 1700s). Research your selected block and come prepared to share why you picked it and an interesting fact about the block.
Step Two: Take the traditional block and put a modern spin on it. Be wild, be crazy, do a modern interpretation of the same block to finish off the remainder your quilt
Step Three: Complete your quilt, including binding and label.
Drawing: All those who have completed quilts, will receive a ticket for a drawing of a local quilt store gift certificate.
