April’s Meeting Reminder

It’s that time again. Yearly renewals for membership must be in to AQG before June. We will have forms for you to fill out at the meeting. All members of PP must belong to AQG. If you have already paid them direct or thru another chapter, please bring proof of payment.
Lets have a good share – bring show and tells, new ideas, new patterns, new tools you use, etc.
See you tomorrow at the Church, April 23rd, Thursday.

April General Meeting and Agenda

Some of our members are heading south to spend a weekend at Quilt Camp. Enjoy! Since that leaves only a few of us here in town, the Board has decided to change our Meeting from this coming Thursday, April 16th to the following Thursday, April 23rd. Meeting will be at the church at our usual 7pm time.
To start a new practice, when I send out meeting reminders, I am going to include the meeting agenda. This will help keep you informed if you can’t make that particular meeting as well as saving a few trees.

We were 9-10 strong at different points in the day and we got lots of piecing completed, kits made, and caps stitched.  Watch for February Meeting Announcements – we plan to cut the Charity ‘stash’ even more!  Thanks to all who participated and to Sylvia for organizing.  If you have a Charity project, including round robins, please bring them to the next meeting.  PS – BEST part of the day – the delicious Pot-Luck lunch!

Happy New Year!

imagesOur Holiday party was held December 18.  Sixteen members and one guest were welcomed into Becky Klein’s studio (which is fabulous and has cabinets galore!).  Homemade soups, salads and breads were followed by a dessert buffet!  Gift card prizes were awarded for attendance and the most “Sew and Tells.”

The New Year begins with our January 15th meeting – we meet the third Thursday of each month 7:00 PM at  Desert Foothills United Methodist Church,  2156 E. Liberty Lane in Awahtukee.

We will be hosting AQG President  Elaine Putnam.   Our program that evening includes a viewing of our PP President’s  Challenge Quilts.  “Time Warp” is the theme, we are to create a quilt using both a traditional block and a modern interpretation of that same block.  Also include a brief history of the traditional block and how the modern version came to be.

Then we will have a UFO, PHD (projects half done) and PIGS (projects in grocery sacks) can fly off your shelves “contest”.  Each member is to bring 3 UFO’s and others will vote on the order in which they may be completed.  Finished projects will be featured at our May dessert social for additional Sew and Tell tickets toward the year end prize drawing.
January 17 we are holding a Charity Sew-In and pot luck lunch at Mountain View Lutheran Church (Southwest corner of Elliott and 48th).
In February we will be working on an Opportunity Quilt during our meeting.
March will bring a trunk show by Marti French, “Art Quilter Unleashed” and
April brings both “Triangles on a Roll” and our 2nd annual retreat to Ritter Ranch.
Our monthly group sew-in is January 31 at the Chandler Police Department – it usually falls on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
We welcome new Members.  Come Join us and check out Prickly Piecers on Facebook to get the latest news.
