President’s Quilt Challenge   - “ Time Warp” ………. From traditional to modern.

Due: Holiday Party, December 18th.

Size:  Your choice

Color:  Your choice

Design:

Step One:  Select a traditional block.  Incorporate into a quilt, either 1/3 or 2/3 of the traditional block design.  Your choice whether you prefer traditional or modern.

Examples:  Some suggested traditional blocks.  (It is amazing how old some of them are).

Log Cabin 1869, Nine Patch 1808, Dresden Plate 1920, Lone Star 1830, Wedding Ring 1920, Mariners Compass 1726, Bow Tie 1898, Fans 1885, Pieced Trees 1875, Ocean Waves 1875, Irish Chain 1814, Feathered Star 1830, Ocean Shores 1844, Grandmother’s Flower Garden 1700s).  Research your selected block and come prepared to share why you picked it and an interesting fact about the block.

Step Two:  Take the traditional block and put a modern spin on it.  Be wild, be crazy, do a modern interpretation of the same block to finish off the remainder your quilt

Step Three:  Complete your quilt, including binding and label.

Drawing:  All those who have completed quilts, will receive a ticket for a drawing of a local  quilt store gift certificate.

May 15 Meeting

You were missed!  It was a small gathering with lots of fun.  The slate of nominations was re-worked  and a few  positions are still open.  More about that next post.

We had Show and Tell and several President’s Challenge Charm Pack Quilts.  MaryLou won the drawing for the gift certificate for the Challenge.  Her’s is the white background quilt.

Fabulous desserts and FQ’s were exchanged – that went so fast no photos made it into this posting!

Next meeting June 19.  Watch for emails – a quorum is needed for voting in the new officers.  If you can’t attend in June, be sure to send your proxy vote by email.  IMG_3996 IMG_3997 IMG_3999 IMG_4003 IMG_4004 IMG_4005 IMG_4006 IMG_4007 IMG_4009 IMG_3951 IMG_3970

Charm Pack Quilts and Dessert – Be There!

The President’s Challenge charm quilts are to be unveiled!!       product_4533_riley-blake-cp-cottondots-small-1380334495969        Can’t wait to see the talent showcase!   AND we will also have our annual Dessert Social.         images              Please remember to bring any dessert item in a single serving size .  Creatively wrap it  (in a protective container) in a fat quarter of fabric.  Members (and guests who bring a dessert) will be given a number when they arrive with their dessert.  That number will determine when you are allowed to go to the dessert table to select your dessert.  We will use the “white elephant” drawing method to determine who gets to keep the dessert for good.  Desserts will stay with the third person in possession of the dessert (No tasting before it gets to that third person!!)   The fat quarter can be any fabric of your choosing.
Also Ken asks that you bring any red sashes you’ve completed to the next meeting (May 15th) or to call him  so you can make arrangements for him to get them from you.  Phone # was included in email to membership.
Membership renewals are due to Juanita at the next meeting.
We will also be announcing the nominations for the slate of officers for the upcoming year.  Please check our Facebook page or your member email for a listing.
WOW a busy meeting!   Your input – much less your dessert, is NEEDED.  See you there!
